The weather lately has been so hard! Lots of shuffling going on because of the rain. It's been kind of nice though snuggling down. I love rainy days. I think because as a child the only time we were allowed to just hang out in the house was on rainy days (9kids and a fussy Dad is the reason my Mom made us stay out) and it just felt snuggly to me. I usually feel like cooking big fill your tummy dinners and desserts too on days like these. My family loves that!
Just a heads up I've had several people contact me in the last few days about doing a leaf session. I am not scheduling past Nov 18th.
curious what a fall leaf/beach session looks like?
here is a quickie slideshow for you
http://www.linenphotography.com/fall.htm
sadly I deleted their slideshow which I loved so I just threw this quickly together it's from last year.
Though I have some in the works I haven't done leaf/beach sessions yet this year.
This spot is fantastic lighting and it's going to be at it's peek in the next week or so
a couple images for those that can't see the slideshow
The next fews weeks are going to be busy so I'm not sure how much I will be around sorry about that. I'll try to drop in at least once a week. Here is a sneak peek I just emailed a few min ago. These are not even her best shots , I'm still working through her proofs. I totally have to put this session's slideshow up. This girl was just stunning shot after shot, the camera loved her. One capture at the end as the sun was going down both her mother and I thought to ourselves, OMG it looks like a poster , an american indian poster (she's indian),she was that stunning. So yeah I'm putting that slideshow up! LOL!
Missing in action again! Sorry I've been super busy lots of fun stuff to share not all worked through yet though so just so you know I’m alive I will share a slideshow.
Every session I've ever done there is some point that I get mushy. The love I see in families just touches my heart so much and I'm a real softie. This session was very special to me though I've thought a lot about them. I think it touched me especially because I have children that are just starting to border on adulthood.
The love between this young man and his Mom was so touching. You could see how incredible proud she was of him. It was wonderful to see how much they enjoyed each other's company in an easy going laidback way.
He is on his way to becoming a lawyer and has chosen to continue his schooling and become a doctor. Now that is impressive but what was most impressive to me was how he treated his mom... The young lady that captures this young man's heart is going to be princess in his heart. His mom has taught him the important things that who his is more important then what he does.
sigh...
I had a hard time limiting myself with the images I showed in their slideshow. I wish I could have added them all in way to0 many I loved.
Here is the link to their slideshow Friends slideshow
Oh and I hope I don't embarrass him by the song choice. I felt his mom is like my husband's family. We've always been able to turn towards Mom and Dad when we were feeling a bit lost as to what to do and also we just always felt like they are there for us silent loving support.
Sorry I’m not the best at posting, life just gets BUSY!! Loved this session! I have been eyeballing this location for a while I knew it would be a perfect spot for a shoot glad the owner let me use it and so glad for clients who trust my creativity. I was bummed it clouded over. I know lots of photographers prefer cloudy weather and I do a lot of times at the beach (you get those cool clouds yum!) but I love crisp contrast, backlighting prefer working with lots of light. The first images we took (group captures by the barn) the sun peeked out and you can see the difference. Still that is the cool thing about every session it's never the same, each unique. We had to shorten this session to about half the regular time because the sun disappeared totally. I was bummed I love sunset pictures but again each session, unique one of a kind. Even with the disappointment of the lack of light I could of easily processed tons more, it was hard choosing, what a fun family to capture!
Here is the link to the full session Cranberry bog shootI loved this Mom because she is into documentary captures so I took and included some shots that might not normally they are what I call "outtakes" real moments, fun crops, my favorite kind of session.
Here are some of my favorites might not be what some would consider the "best" of the shoot but they were real and really funny LOL!
Mom wanting some mother and daughter captures (we did get some) pleading with her baby girl to come to her and her expression says it all! When I showed it at the shoot, the mom laughed and said that is so us! She was such an independent little spirit loved her!
Here is another perfect capture of her personality. Dad wanted a shot of the frame and she was having none of it. They tried to capture her and pull her back to them but I said “Let her go.” and I was rewarded with this mischievous little grin! Can't you just hear her little snicker?
Dogs they never obey! I have lots of "better" captures but this one is my fav of them together. OH and yes the dog did end up in the bog. He lasted about 5 min and then he was a muddy mess. Bummer he was beautiful I would have loved to have captured some of him with the kids.
processed this one as a sepia color wash for a bit of vintage look. One thing to think about letting me know is the family relations. Mom knew the kids aren't the touchy huggy with each other, knowing that a head of time helps tons! I can't tell you how much the questionaire helps direct the shoot. If you want moody soulful images I need to know ahead of time. It is much harder to get those images after I get the kids laughing and playing, much easier in the beginning to get those as we are getting to know one another and there is a bit of shy going round. So I know it's a pain but filling that questionaire out is essential to the complete sucess of a shoot and I LOVE it when I get more info then I need! :)
I always try to get a few captures of just Mom and Dad after all this is how the whole thing started. :)
I think I've made that a priorty because my husband and I have so few nice captures of us.
so now if you have picked up my blog you know that I am bad at updating it! LOL!
We've been so sick my entire family for weeks now. I just want to lay around and wish I could. My baby has a rash on his entire face he's been battling the boogie battle for so long. I have never had a child with so chapped a face it hurts to just look at it. I keep putting on vaseline all day long but it doesn't seem to work entirely just kind of like a bandaid so it doesn't get any worse.
Anyway we are alive and hanging on. :)
and of course what is a blog update without a portrait
This poor little guy was so cold. It's tough shoot at the beach when it's not summer, wish the weather would warm up.
and one from summer because I am so longing for it......
Wow I can't believe how long I've neglected this! I'm amazed at all the people who still come to check the blog when I haven't made a post in forever. I'm sorry I will try to be more diligent in the next year.
It's been a crazy month,busy,happy,sad.... My sweet Grandmother went home. My brother was with her and said she was smiling as she went. I'm reminded of her in so many ways crying at odd times like the grocery store. I don't think the cashier expected a weepy woman when I stepped into his line. But everything about the holiday just reminded me of her, every little elderly lady made me cry. I'm so happy for my Grandmother but I will miss her more then anything, she was like a parent to me.
We had a nice Christmas crazy busy but wonderful! I love Christmas so much! When I process some of our wonderful day I'll post some.
Today though I will share a few from session that the family wanted their gallery reposted for ordering. It's so cool to hear over and over again clients share words describing just what my dream for this business is.
They told me that they had been using a local big studio for their portraits but they were so much happier with mine. Again I heard how fun the session was. I LOVE that!!! That they had spent the same and more time with the private studio photographer but mine were more real and they had fun! They loved that that it was at their home that they will have the memories of that too. That they had cried over and over again over them. I felt like a kid with a gold star when they were through.
Here are a few from their session and yes there is that quilt again!
Woooo hoooo! A fresh new blog!
I'm so excited to have a fresh new turn to my sharing!
Lots of things to share too! I’m going to start taking shoots again in Jan. I'm so excited to start shooting again and also I'm going to offering a lot of new exiting opportunities I'm really really really thrilled to be able to offer. We're working on the website and hope to have it up and running soon!
So many people dread a photo shoot thinking for sure there will be tensions and finally just burn out. I try at all costs to avoid those types of situations in my shoots. I want people to come away with a happy memory of nice afternoon, tired, happy because they spent some fun time together and a footnote really, they have captures that caught all of that very special happy time.
That is why I'm so blessed when a family tells me what a wonderful time they had during the shoot.
The Nelsons and I laughed and played just had a great time. I loved it when the Mom told me how much fun they all thought the session was. Yeah!
Here are a few from their shoot such a loving sweet family!
