TRASH the dress!!!!!

A new trend you might think is nuts if your hearing about it for the first time but it's quickly becoming a HOT thing to do. Basically you take a wedding, prom or just special dress and do a fashion shoot with it going any and every where in unexpected locations. So basically what YOU WILL NOT get is your typical bridals or prom shots but instead something very different and artistic.

I haven't worked out all the details but I plan on offering trash the dress shoots both wedding and prom. I found this video that pretty much shows exactly what I want to do except I also considering buying an underwater casing for my cameras.

This second video shows underwater trash the dress, ohhhhh I would of died to have shots like these when I was thin and young. I'm am so inspired!!!

I'm also really considering casing because I interested in underwater photography for kids as well. Do not think what you would capture with a throw away underwater camera but artistic beautiful images and what better place then Cape Cod!

And I'm sure by now you figured out I'm not your typical Cape Cod photographer and to be honest I'm not for everyone.  I go the extra mile to create ART because my heart just won't be in it if I didn't. If you want a quickie session with some good traditional images I'm not for you.

I'll ask you to go in unusual locations,do things you might think I’m nuts etc...It’s pretty much inevitable that I will get wet or dirty(and you might too!) during a shoot because I must get the shot that alone probably says a lot about my sessions. When was the last time you’ve had a photographer who would lay down in the water because they had to get a shot. LOL!

So I'm not for everyone. Luckily I've only had a few mismatches over the history of my shooting because I’m pretty careful about being upfront about who I am and what I do,what's different. I'd rather have few clients then tons of clients who are not like minded. But fewer clients do not seem to be an issue.... I am so tired and have a ton of images to work through from the last few weeks.

. Just wanted to drop in and leave off some of my thoughts of things I would like to offer that are.....coming soon!

Seniors

Just a quick note if you are senior and are considering getting your portraits done by me,do it soon!

The deadlines for yearbooks are coming up and the spots I have free are filling fast both with seniors and families. I had to turn down two shoots this week alone.

I've had so many senior girls this year just a reminder I also do male seniors.  If you want shots with your car or bike, grungy location like a junk yard or just something different like the senior I shot who wanted a shot of himself sharp while the train going by him was a big blur well I'm up for your ideas and welcome them.

Also if you are considering a family shoot for Christmas cards and presents mid Nov is the last shoot I'm scheduling this year. Fall is a beautiful time to do a leaf/beach session I have one shown in my photo galleries on this blog.

Hello!!!

Me again :) Hey thank you all so much for the comments and emails I really appreciate it so much!!!

Ok this session I adored!!! I could tell right off the bat that this girl was up for anything and very artistic (and beautiful!) so we just kind of played and really came up with some beautiful images.  I told her to give me a call after the prom and we will do a trash the dress session(very fashionish ,artistic shoot) because I can totally see her doing that kind of shoot. Here is a quick few I'll be back a promise with a few slideshows of some recent seniors!

This image she reminded me a bit of  Linda Evangelista who is probably my all time fav model. I love how elegant and romantic her images are. It's exactly the look I try to achieve with some of my images romantic, Pre Rahaelite with a a modern touch. I'm afraid I've always been a bit of an Anne(spelt with a e)  a real dreamer whose head  is always day dreaming images .

When I was a little girl I would stay for hours in my bedroom's full length mirror with only a blanket(used to make gowns and robes) and few props and pretend princess stories for hours and hours day after day it was very much my favorite pretend. I think creating images is my way again of creating that beauty in my life it's not quite the same but it has a dusting of that imaging I did as a child.

I can see when I'm shooting like the girl above half closed her eyes I saw a dreamy princess. I don't think  I quite think in those terms "princess" but I think the reason why I see that, notice it, is the part of me that spent hours and hours dreaming.

Here is another beautiful senior, another favorite shoot!!!!!  The amazing thing to me is these aren't even their "best" shots just some I grabbed as i was downloading images. There are so many "best" shots that I have the hardest time choosing what to show.  I've had just the most amazingly beautiful people to shoot lately.

I'm having so much fun playing around with my senior shoots! I love artsy fashionish stuff. I just want to skip over showing the regular images but I know usually Mom and Dad want to see those so.... here is a mix preview of regularly processed images and fun artsy ones. Showing this size images just do not them justice they look soooooo incredible full size, guess I"ll have to put up the slideshow :)   This girl when she nailed it she nailed it just stunning!

slideshows family and high school senior

What a week! My family had a stomach bug for most of it.  Of course we didn't all get at the same time so as soon as I had one child feeling better another one or two turned up with it all the while I was the most sick of everyone.  Ugh!!! So so sooooooo glad to be feeling better!

This week made me think of this family. I was so excited when I thought of  this song for their slideshow it is sooo them. They are amazing! They have gone through so much a premie handicapped child then the mom has had to go through chemo three times and currently going through a bone marrow transplant.  So amazing to make it through all that but then add to that their spirits these people are happy,uplifting..... If you met them on the street you would NEVER know all their sorrow and troubles.... just so inspiring to me because I'm a whinging baby most of the time.

quick hello!

The next fews weeks are going to be busy so I'm not sure how much I will be around sorry about that. I'll try to drop in at least once a week. Here is a sneak peek I just emailed a few min ago. These are not even her best shots , I'm still working through her proofs. I totally have to put this session's slideshow up. This girl was just stunning shot after shot, the camera loved her.  One capture at the end as the sun was going down both her mother and I thought to ourselves, OMG it looks like a poster , an american indian poster (she's indian),she was that stunning. So yeah I'm putting that slideshow up! LOL!

wedding laughs

Sorry I haven't been around much busy busy. I'm alive!!! Seriously or not so seriously I found these videos while doing some research OMG I had the giggles.

Chris and I were married so young that I think pretty much our entire wedding wasn't me it was a bit of everyone else LOL! I was talked out of everything I wanted from my flowers to well just about everything. I had wanted a small garden or sailboat ceremony then a big fun beach party...... we had none of that LOL! Even our reception was someone else's idea of the "proper" type of reception.  I had known what I wanted for a long time not sure why I caved save that I was a silly young girl floating along the puffy clouds of love easily blown. LOL!

I even had the horrid over done wedding dress I think because I couldn't stand to look any more none were me so I just took the least over done dress(late 80 early 90's the wedding dresses were huge puffy sleeved jeweled things think fairy princess. I think it was the lady di thing that did it) I told my daughters already don't feel you ever have to wear the hideous thing LOL but of course they adore putting it on now. I much much much prefer the dresses now a days classy and simple love them!

Anyway I do rather run at the mouth don't I? I wish I had been a bit more in my skin because I think our wedding would of been rather silly like the dancer video below, we’re both a bit of goofs.  I get hives just thinking about our wedding day. I'm so not a look at me girl but stuck in a stiff dress with 300 + eyes’ peeking at me was a day I'd soon forget. I have sweet memories though after we left everyone and went down to the harbor with our photographer. My favorite photo is of us just being silly. The wind had picked up my long veil and it was floating by him and it gave us a giggle.

I read recently that it's so important to get the couple totally alone so they can be themselves and for us that was so true. The sweetest part of the wedding was just us and the time we spent away from everyone and our photographer. I think that time made it for me "our day".

So if your a young bride reading this don’t' let anyone steal your day. I have heard so many women complain about other people taking over their weddings.   In the end it really doesn't matter because now you have a lovely forever friend but still you think about it and wish you had been able to have done your dream. Chris and I plan on renewing our vows probably for our 20th and we are going to have a rocking fun party and finally do it right!
