Wedding

Weddings.....   It is very special to be a part of such a special time. We had two photographers at our wedding one shooting bw and the other color. I wish I had done them all in BW.... loved them so much. BW seems to suit the timeless romantic mood a wedding  usually has, so often I will show more BW then color.

This couple chose to not take the time to do the normal couple captures I take either before or after the wedding, so I was only able to get candids through out the day.  Beautiful couple,I love the way he is looking at her.

inspired

We went to a graduation party for a homeschooled boy yesterday. You would never think a person would cry at a graduation that it wasn't your own child, but I did.  Part of the ceremony they had friends and family speak about him. Now I've been to weddings and funerals where people say nice things sometimes they are true, sometimes a bit of a stretch. Well everything people shared about him was so true.

This kid is every parent's dream. He's so mature, patient, loving totally dedicated to his faith and serving other people. As everyone was speaking I thought man I so want my kids to grow up like that to touch other people's lifes so strongly to be such a anchor.  Jacob has made a HUGE impact on my kids,on me. You don't meet too many 18 year olds like him.

So I was ok while everyone talked about him till his mom got up to speak. She spoke of how when he was  a little boy they planned exactly what they wanted to see his life and how they would accomplish it.  How they didn't care so much what he did but more about who he was going to be.

The whole cermony spoke so strongly to my heart. I wish I could go to one every morning to remind me , to freshly inspire me to give my kids my all,my everything that this is a season and some day I will be looking up at the faces I love ,what will I see? Where did I place my time,my energies?  I may not be the best mom in the world but I can be the best mom I can be.

Hope you all are enjoying a beautiful weekend!  We've had a great week so enjoy being outside again, both shooting and just relaxing.  I took my kids on the shining bike path in Falmouth Thursday.  I love to walk the whole thing, then head down into wood's hole ending at the playground but we haven't done it in a while. Sebastian never lasts long. We're about half way and he says "I've been walking for millions and millions of miles. How many more millions must I walk?" LOL! He's the only one of my kids that isn't an outdoors type. It's amazing how different kids can be right in the same family.

Cribtwo

I need to get another bike trailer so we can do the whole path. I used mine so much I wore out two covers. It was old and hard to get parts for so when one of the tires had an issue and our second cover was just about shot, I finally let it go but we miss it.  It will be good when the kids can finally be able to bike the entire way with Ollie only being two it's going to be a while.

Thought I would share one of my client slideshows.  I don't mind putting these up on the web for a short time if desired. I know that it's fun to be able to share them with friends and family all over.  I do not usually put all the images I show in the slideshow there just isn't enough room. I try to choose a mix the images I feel tell the family's story the best.  If you have favorite quotes (even from your own family,I know our kids have said some of the best quotes! LOL! ) I am happy to include them.

stars

Last night Chris and the older kids went out to youth group leaving the rest of us at home.  Feeling silly we went out side to look at the moon to sing and dance play together. The kids ended up all muddy (it was raining here) but it was a lovely moment.  We made Chris smile at us when he came home. I like that.

Loved this song and video made me want to wake everyone up to snuggle with. (yes I'm up in the middle of the night thank goodness Chris gets the babies going in the morning)

slow down

Boy

I constantly have to tell myself to slow down.  You'll probably find that theme over and over again in my blog.  A couple of days ago I had an errand to run so I stopped off just because it was a lovely day at a garden we love.

.

I'm always amazed at how much going for a walk refreshes my spirit. It's being outside and also connecting again with the people I love.   The girls and I walked at our leisure and the stopped for a good long while in a sunny field it was a lovely afternoon that ended all too soon.

Peek2

I feel some of the same feelings after a portrait session. They say a good photographer connects with the people they photograph. To me that means getting a tiny glimpse of a family’s unique bond and it refreshes me to see that love.  Usually at the end of a session I am totally beat but happy. Dancesepai

Why tired?  There is a lot that is running through my head when I shoot. The technical, composition, connection which are three simple words but there is A LOT to those words. It's like trying to create a painting but the landscape keeps moving , your paint brush keeps changing and your subject will just leave if you don’t' engage them meanwhile juggling all the rest.

I think too mostly unposed photography is physically demanding. I am always trying to anticipate where I need to be and that involves up down and some running LOL! I've even gone in the water to get the right angle.

  Cheekie

Posed is just the opposite, the landscape doesn't changed, your technical doesn't change, and it's easy without the other two to engage your subjects.  So physically tired but refreshed a nice tired refreshed. I love my job!

big dinner!

Cooking for about 40 people tonight so this is a short post, I really need to get started cooking but I had to finish up some designs for the auction on Friday.

Bike

If you missed what I'm talking about read below post. I'm starting to get really excited it will be fun to show off my prints. I always get such a big rush dropping off prints, showing people in person. They look so much better in print sometimes I still get wowed!

I'm excited too that I am giving back. It's been a while since I've done any volunteer work. It used to be such a huge part of my life but with the kids and everything the only thing I feel I can handle right now is allowing my husband to be free to do projects he is interested in helping.

Here is one of the gift sessions that will be in the auction.

Happy Mother's Day!

I hope you all are having a wonderful Mother's Day! I woke up to the smell of bacon and my favorite cheese (the more potent it is the better I like it, you can totally smell the cheese I like!) omelet.

Here is a slideshow to celebrate! I created it for our mothers.  It's large so it will take a min or two to download just click run and it will start on it's own.  Oh and yes it does have typos,it showcases exactly why I have someone proof  my client slideshows before I burn them! I too often work in the middle of the night....

Happy Mother's Day slideshow

Enjoy!

Don't you just hate it when you find an artist whose style you LOVE but their values aren't the same. I LOVE LOVE LOVE lilly Allen's style but not crazy at all about the crass part of it.

She reminds me so much of a girlfriend I had in school.  We lived together in Boston for while along with three other girlfriends. Five girls all sharing an apartment it was a nightmare on Friday nights, all of us vying for the mirror. (insert scream here!)

I've actually shared an apartment/house three different times with different groups of girls. Most of the time lots of fun but there were moments..... Like the time we kept having a peeping tom look in our windows and Debbie went out to confront him!!!!!  Good thing she was a very tall tough Texan, I think she flipped the guy out, and he never came back! Mostly the issues seemed to be fighting over the bathroom. Oh and how we lived for care packages from mom’s..... Debbie's Mom made the best pound cake and her beef rub.....   I still stay in touch with some my roomies after all these years; we’re mostly married now with kids bordering on adulthood, sad how fast time goes.

Anyway Lilly makes me wish I could get back in touch with my funky friend. It would be interesting to see share where our lives went.  It was funny you never know what will happen. I ran into a girlfriend a while back that my brother used to date and she is now married to another girlfriend's ex boyfriend and they have a son.  I never in a million years would have put them together. I know in my life I certainly didn't do all I had thought I would (but my life isn't over yet!!!)But I'm happy with how my life has turned out so far.  It's a very good happy life with some glitches now and then. LOL!

Here is lilly, singing on TV so it's a PG version. She also reminds me a bit of Bailey Rae who is my total favorite right now.  She even has the easy going fun to watch style of performing that Bailey Rae has.
